Uttaranchal

It is the end of April and I am sure all travel enthusiasts are planning for their summer trip. Nothing can be  more  alluring than the lap of Himalaya during summer. Yes! And this mighty Himalaya offers tourists with innumerable destinations. Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Jammu and Kashmir, Sikkim, Darjeeling are some summer attractions in India. Today I would like to jot down about one of my favorite hilly states, Uttaranchal.

Words fail to describe the enchanting charm and awesome beauty of the magical land of Uttaranchal. This state is blessed with snow clapped ecstatic Himalayan peaks, sparkling and dancing river, splendid and pristine glacier, valley of flowers, lush forest and finally abode of God which includes many shrines containing the Char Dham - : Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. The beauty of the places of Uttaranchal is to be seen and felt. I find this state truly a paradise on earth. The fresh air, pure water, small villages, simple people, beautiful mountains allure every one.
If you are in love with modern amenities, people and mountains then the best destinations of Uttaranchal are Mussoorie, Dheradoon, Nainital and Rishikesh and Haridwar. These are the places where one can get the city like facility with splendor of nature. The other fascinating hill stations of Uttaranchal are Kausani, Ranikhet, Lansdowne, Valley of Flowers, Naukuchiatal , Bhimtal, Chopta, Auli, Joshimoth and many more also the famous pilgrimage - Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri. These are the places where nature can be enjoyed in its true sense. As the sun rises the landscape of the mighty Himalaya emerges changing colours with its all passing moments from grey to orange to pale yellow to deep orange and then the bird king of the high Himalaya takes it flight to the valley. I just get goose bumps whenever I speak about the transcendental beauty of the state. The beautiful dancing river, huge mountain silhouetted against the sky, sparkling falls, natural biospheres are some common sights of this beautiful land.

While some tourists appreciate nature quietly in Devobhomi, there are adventure seekers who find plenty of activities there. Trekking, rafting, mountaineering, skiing etc thrill the people who visit there. Angling and fishing, rock climbing, nature camp fascinate the city dwellers like anything. I believe Uttaranchal is such a place where soul, body and mind get one with nature.

Tourism in Uttaranchal is at its zenith these days. There are plenty of hotels and Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam guest houses to serve the tourist in all major destinations of the state. More over, to cuddle with the nature one need not have to be a man of heavy pocket. There are every category of hotels and guest houses can be spotted through out the Uttaranchal.

  1. You are right...I too liked Mussoorie like nothing this time...the changing colors of mountains through out the day...the marvelous view of water with the guarding mountains at Tehri dam while still driving towards the venue...it can't just be explained in words...it can only be seen...felt...and remembered
